Publish a Form on Synthesis

Sharing firmwide forms on Synthesis is an easy way to get the right form to the right employee at the right time. Here are a few common forms found on Synthesis intranets:

  • Open a New Project Number
  • Submit Updated Employee or Project Information
  • Nominate a Colleague for an Award

Sharing a form on Synthesis has two steps:

  1. Create a form. This step is done outside of Synthesis, in a form-building web application of your choice.
  2. Embed the form on a Synthesis wiki page.

Create a Form

Synthesis doesn’t have a native form builder. However, any web-based form-building application that generates an embed code for its forms can be integrated into Synthesis. The following form-builder applications have been recommended by Synthesis community members:

Once you’ve built your form, follow the application’s directions to find your form’s embed code and then copy it to your clipboard. 

Example: Get the embed code for a Microsoft Office 365 Form.

  1. Click the Share tab in the upper right corner. 1.png

Embed the Form on a Synthesis Wiki Page

  1. In Synthesis, create a wiki page. If you need assistance creating a wiki page, contact support@knowledge-architecture.com.
  2. Click the Settings Cog in the top-right corner, and select Edit Page.

  3. Place your cursor in the location where you intend to insert the form.
  4. Select the Insert ribbon in the top-right corner.
  5. Select the Web Part button from the Insert ribbon.

  6. Select the Media and Content web part Category and then the Script Editor web part. Click Add.  The Script Editor web part has been added to the page, this allows you to embed the form on this page.

  7. Select the Web Part ribbon in the top-right corner.
  8. Click Web Part Properties from the Web Part ribbon.

  9. Within the Script Editor web part, click Edit Snippet.

  10. Paste your form’s embed code into the Embed dialog box and click Insert.

  11. Save your wiki page.

Additional Formatting Options 

If the bottom of your form is cut off on the wiki page, you may need to manually edit the embed code or the Script Editor web part’s properties.

Manually Edit the Embed Code

  1. Click the Settings Cog in the top-right corner, and select Edit Page.
  2. Click the Script Editor web part and then repeat steps 7 and 8 to access the Script Editor’s Web Part Properties.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the web part and click Edit Snippet.
  4. In the embed code, locate and adjust the value for height. When you are done, click Insert.

Adjust the Script Editor Web Part’s Height

  1. Click the Settings Cog in the top-right corner, and select Edit Page.
  2. Click the Script Editor web part and then repeat steps 7 and 8 to access the Script Editor’s Web Part Properties.
  3. In the Height section of the properties panel on the right side of your screen, set a fixed height for the web part.
