Insert a Video on a Community Homepage

There are two ways to insert a video on a community homepage:

  • Insert a video from your computer
  • Embed a video from YouTube, Vimeo, MS Stream

Insert Video From Your Computer

  1. Navigate to the desired Community Homepage. Click the Settings Cog in the top-right corner, and select Edit Page.

  2. Click anywhere within the desired zone, except within one of the existing web parts or Add a Web Part.

  3. Select the Insert ribbon in the top-right corner.

  4. Select the Play button from the Insert ribbon.

  5. Upload a video from your computer (note there is a file size limit of 5 GB).

  6. Once the video is finished uploading, it will begin processing. Feel free to save the community homepage at this stage, and return to it later. Click here to learn more about the processing process.
  7. Once processing is complete, follow the prompts to select a title and thumbnail.
  8. To resize the video, simply click on the player (it will be highlighted in blue), and drag the corner until you have reached the desired size.

  9. Save the Community Homepage.
  10. To delete a video, select Delete from the drop-down menu in the top-right corner of the webpart.

Insert a Video from YouTube, Vimeo, or MS Stream

  1. Navigate to the desired YouTube, Vimeo or MS Stream video.
  2. Find and copy the video’s embed code to your clipboard.
  3. Navigate to the desired Community Homepage. Click the Settings Cog in the top-right corner, and select Edit Page.

  4. Within the desired zone, click Add a Web Part.

  5. From the Media and Content category, select Content Editor and click Add.

  6. Within the new Content Editor web part, click Click here to add new content.

  7. Select the Embed Code button from the Insert ribbon.

  8. Paste the video’s embed code, wait for the video preview to appear. You can resize the video by editing the embed code (recommended size is 320x180) and click Insert.

  9. From the Page ribbon, select Stop Editing.
